Who We Are

MISSION STATEMENT

"Transfers of today, Leaders of tomorrow"

History

Tau Sigma National Honor Society was founded in 1999 at Auburn University in Alabama. Today, there are over one hundred active chapters nationwide that are striving to recognize the academic achievement of the most outstanding transfer students and help universities better serve their transfer population.  Tau Sigma members are amongst the most accomplished transfer students on campus and serve as academic resources for current and future transfers at an institution.

UCI Chapter

The UC Irvine Omicron chapter of Tau Sigma is an active organization with regular meetings, social activities for members, and community service opportunities throughout the year.  Our first goal is to recognize you as both a student and future professional who has made a successful transition into UC Irvine. Our second goal is to help you become involved on the UC Irvine campus and in the surrounding community.

Membership Eligibility

All members of Tau Sigma Omicron Chapter must obtain a 3.5 GPA during their first quarter at the University of California, Irvine. All members must also transfer in with at least one year of transferable units. Transferable units consist of those accepted by the University of California, Irvine as equivalent coursework at another institution of higher learning.

The Tau Sigma Network is intended to connect all members of Tau Sigma from past alumni to future members. We strive to keep our connections alive and our network to thrive in order to discuss and learn from each other’s experiences as each of us becomes leaders in our industry. From our experiences, we hope that everyone will kindly help each other grow and develop into professionals and become better people.

Our Goals:

  1. To help our community through volunteer work.

  2. To foster a positive relationship with transfer students through the sharing of knowledge, professional development workshops and events for the enrichment of the students’ education. Our overarching goal is to be role models for these students and to encourage them to continue pursuing high achievement.

  3. To create a social and friendly atmosphere and among the Tau Sigma members and its affiliates as well as to nurture and expand the Tau Sigma Network, which includes: the current Tau Sigma and Tau Sigma Alumni since the inception of Tau Sigma – Omicron in 2004.
